Who Are NSG Security Consultants?NSG Security Consultants were established in May 1996 by the Consultancy’s Partner and Principal Consultant Mr Nick Saunders, following a police career spanning 19 years with the Greater Manchester Police. At the time Nick was concerned that the need for effective management of
security issues in both the private and public sectors was not readily recognised
by people within the security industry and security practitioners. Indeed business
decision makers had available to them, and still do today numerous sources
of security advice, including the police, the insurance industry, and the security installing
industry. Traditionalists fail to appreciate the benefits of proactive thinking, or the possibilities for the enhancement of business operations. Nevermore so has there been a need for companies and organisations, whether in the retail, manufacturing, service sectors, or the public sector to be able to operate within a secure environment. However, the introduction of locks, grilles, alarms and CCTV etc, (the traditionalists approach to security provision), may not offer the best protection. Of course these security measures may have their place in a successful business development strategy but only if the company/organisation operations have been properly considered. Furthermore, the detrimental effect on staff morale, with employees being asked to work within a confined environment, which inhibits productivity, emphasised the need for a change in thinking. Nick realised long ago that the security advice on offer to businesses and organisations did not cater adequately for their needs. Dealing solely with the prevention of crime, other important considerations including cost and harmony with profitable business/organisation operations were often ignored. Nick established NSG Security Consultants not as just another security consultancy, but as a consultancy focusing on the management of security issues within the business environment, the one aspect of crime prevention hitherto largely ignored. A philosophy and working methodology was created which provides a more lateral problem solving approach, an approach applicable across all business sectors, other private sector organisations, and the public sector, particularly local authorities. Since 1996 the consultancy has expanded through a network of independent security consultants, allowing us to offer the best available expertise. As a consequence NSG Security Consultants can offer an expanded range of services including life safety, data protection, information security management, building management and contract management advice.
